2012年、現金払いとカード払いが主流だったころから、私はミニ財布を使うようになった。それから10年後のパンデミック明け、ラグジュアリーブランドも次々とミニ財布を取り扱うようになり、昨年、バレンシアガで3代目のミニ財布を購入した.黒地に白と黄色の花柄が気に入っている。そして、このミニ財布を最も携帯しているが、実はその中から紙幣を取り出すことはほとんどない。大半はスマホでの決済だからだ。
I started using mini wallets in 2012, when cash and card payments were the norms. Ten years later, after the end of the pandemic, luxury brands began carrying mini wallets one after another, and last year I bought my third mini wallet from Balenciaga, I like the white and yellow floral pattern on a black background. And although I carry this mini wallet most of the time, I actually rarely take out money from it, mostly because I use my phone to make payments.
だけど、新しい紙幣は今でも必要だ。人に直接お金を渡すとき、新しい紙幣を使うのがマイルールだからだ。それにいつも新札がお財布に入っている状態が心地よい。新札がいつでも手に入る最寄り駅の銀行のATMは、私にとってパワースポットだ。(笑)
However, I still prefer using new banknotes. It has become a personal rule of mine to give people crisp, new bills when I hand them money. Additionally, I find it convenient to always have fresh banknotes in my wallet.
The ATM at the nearest station, where I can consistently obtain new bills, holds a power spot.
新札はミニ財布に入れると曲がってしまう。だから私はそれを銀行の封筒に入れてバッグに忍ばせる。レシートやダイレクトメールをすぐに捨てる人だから、何気なく封筒ごと捨ててしまわぬように、気を付けなくてはならない。
New banknotes tend to get bent when I place them in my small purse. To prevent this, I use bank envelopes to keep them safe in my bag. However, I must remain cautious to avoid mistakenly discarding the entire envelope, as I have a tendency to dispose of receipts and promotional mail without much thought.
そんな背景から、金運開運日にお札専用の財布を購入することにした。金運アップと言えば、一般的にはゴールドが連想されるが、今回はクリエーターにあやかって、マーガレット・ハウエルの1センチ厚の財布を選んだ。新札が10枚も楽々入るし、ブルーグレーという色も私の明るい服装に馴染む。さらにブルーグレーは、運気を浄化し、財産を守るという効果もあると言われている。
Given this background, I purchased a wallet exclusively for my banknotes on a money-luck day. The golden wallet is generally associated with money, but this time, in honor of the creative mind, I chose a 1 cm thick wallet by Margaret Howell. It easily holds 10 new banknotes and the blue-gray color blends in with my bright outfit. Furthermore, the blue-gray color is said to purify one's luck and protect one's possessions.
新しい財布を使う前には、一定の儀式を経る。まず新札をたっぷりと入れ、財布がお金を覚えるように、静かな環境で10日余り間休ませる。
Before using the new wallet, it undergoes a certain ritual. First, I fill it with plenty of new banknotes, allowing the wallet to familiarize itself with money. Then, I let it rest in a quiet environment for a little over ten days.
そこで、お財布に最初に入れるお札を用意するために、私は東京で最も金運が上がるとされる弁財天が祀られた神社を訪れ、お金を水で洗う儀式を行った。お札は紙なので、すこし水に濡らすだけでいいと言われているが、少しでも水に濡れると、ヨーヨー釣りの紙のようにしんなりして、お金は紙なのだと、つくづく実感した。
So, to prepare the first banknotes to put in my wallet, I visited a shrine dedicated to Benzaiten, the god of money, which is said to bring the best luck for money in Tokyo, and performed the ritual of washing money with water. I was told that since bills are paper, they only need to be slightly wetted with water, but if they are soaked with even a little water, they become soft like boiled sheets of lasagna, and I came to really recognize that money is just paper.
儀式が済んだ後、新しい財布に新札を入れ、財布をお財布布団に入れた。そう、ゴールドのサテン地のお財布のためのミニ布団を私は持っているのだ。お財布を使い始める日は、次の吉日だ。その日は偶然にも京都の神社を訪れる予定なので、お札のはじめての出勤は、京都の金運神社となるだろう。ここからお金さんの旅がはじまる。また我が家に帰っておいで。(笑)
After the ceremony, I put the new money in the new wallet and put the wallet in the wallet duvet. Yes, I actually have a mini cushion for my gold satin wallet. こうして振り返ってみると、お金を大切に扱い、細部まで配慮し、物事を徹底して行う姿勢こそが、運気を引き上げる要素となっているのではないかと思う。だから、部屋の隅々まできれいに掃除するのと、お財布の中身を整えるのとでは、同じ思考の延長線上にあるのだ。
Looking back in this way, I believe that the attitude of treating money with care, paying attention to details, and being thorough in doing things are the elements that bring luck. So, cleaning every corner of our rooms and putting our wallets in order are extensions of the same thought process.
お財布を寝かしつけたら、私の主催するオンラインコミュニティのメンバーから、「フリーランサー向けのお金のセミナーを開催してほしい」というリクエストを受けた。2006年の独立以来、私は5人の税理士にお世話になってきた。今の税理士から、「あなたなら、個人事業主向けのお金のセミナーができる」という提案されたことがある。遂にその提案が現実になるのだ。
After putting my wallet to bed, I received a request from my client in my online community to host a money seminar for freelancers. I have had five tax accountants since I started my own business in 2006, and one of them once suggested to me, "You can give a seminar on money for sole proprietors. Finally, that proposal is becoming a reality.
お金について、見て見ぬふりをするから不安になる。しかし、きちんと向き合ってみれば、安心できる。お金の気持ちになってみたら分かるだろう。お財布の中も良い香りで満たしたり、居心地がいいように、常にきれいに整頓しよう。そしてきっと、そんな安心な場所に、お金が仲間を引き連れてやってくるのだろう。
We are anxious about money because we pretend not to see it. But if you face it properly, you will feel relieved. Try to put yourself in the mind of money and you will understand. Let's always keep our wallets clean and tidy, filling them with good scents and making them cozy. And I am sure that money will come to such a safe place with its friends in tow.

英国人の先生には、ヨーヨー釣りの紙が理解できなかったため、英語バージョンは、「水分を含んだラザニア」になってます。(笑)
冒頭文のインスピレーションとしては、お金は紙でできている、だから樹木の香りがする、つまり、お金たちは、自然からやってきたんだね～と妄想が膨らみ、英会話の先生がシルキーに仕上げてくれました。
お金のことは世界共通のことだから、この内容を世界中に広めたほうがいいと提案もありました。丁寧にお金を扱う人が増えれば、ミスターマネーも喜んでくれるでしょう。(笑)
