Christopher Nolan says that when he reads a book or magazine, he reads it backwards. That way, he knows the outcome first, so he can ask, "How did that happen? It can be read with interest and everything becomes a mystery.

クライアントさんは、先の見えない未来が心配で、マニュアルに頼ってきました。それである意味正解になるときもあったのですが、最近は運用が難しくなっていたようです。これから先の未来は、何を頼りにしていけばいいのか？ 悩んでいました。
The client has relied on the manual because she was worried about the uncertain future. Sometimes that helped them to be right in a way, but lately, it has been difficult to operate. What should she rely on for the future? She was struggling with it.
私もそんな体験したことがありました。異業種で転職し、正解がわからない中で、店長をやっていかなくてはならず、本屋に行っては、ビジネス書から正解を探す日々、実行はしてみるのですが、なかなか結果に結びつかないでいました。そんなとき、高額の店長セミナーを見つけ、これだ！と思いました。金額が高いので、社長に相談を持ちかけると、「自分の頭で考えなさい。マニュアルは忘れてください」と言われたのです。私は否定された気持ちになり、とてもショックでした。そこから、自分の答えを探す旅へ。
I've had the same experience. I changed jobs in a different industry, and although I didn't know the right answer, I became a store manager. I would go to bookstores every day looking for the right answer in business books, and I would try, but I was having trouble getting results. That's when I found an expensive store manager seminar that seemed to work. It was expensive, so when I talked to the CEO about it, he told me to think for myself and forget the manual. I felt like I was in denial and I was very shocked. From there, I set out on a journey to find my answers.
そして、自分で考えたアイデアを実行すると、結果が出ました。そうしたら、それが世の中の正解になったのです。
And when I put the idea into practice, I got results. Then it became the right answer for the world.
自分の正解をだしたから、私に人が集まってくるようになりました。ノーランが言うように、人々は、「どうしてそうなったのか？」に興味があるのです。マニュアルに頼る時期も必要ですが、それ以上上手くいかないとき、マニュアルを捨てて、マニュアリーに自分の答えを出す旅へ出るときなのです。
People come to me because I've come up with my right answers myself. Like Nolan, people are interested in how it happened? We need time to rely on the manual, but when it doesn't work any more, it's time to leave the manual behind and begin the journey to find your own answers, manually.

英語のマニュアルの意味は２つあるそうです。manually=do it myself=follow how to do it. なので最後の言葉を 「, manually." 」としたのは英会話の先生です。我々はジョークだとわかるけど、日本語訳にできないよね、と彼は言いました。だったら「マニュアリー」とそのまま書けばいいのではないかと。マニュアルを捨てて、マニュアリーに仕上げました。（笑）
