Dear Readers,
Let’s learn from to be a ‘Paterson’ to pattern-person!
My English teacher recommended a movie called ‘Paterson’ because it connects to my 1D1U concept. The duration of story is one week, in the life of Paterson, a bus driver beginning with Monday. He writes poems, goes to the same bar everyday and lives with his wife and dog.
I think that he can find themes for poems in just an ordinary day because he is in a habit of writing poems everyday. That is similar to my everyday blogging. But somehow I think I might have found another important message in that movie.
Anyway, there are a lot of rhythms in the movie, it is a suggestive movie.
Two day later, when I was having my usual Thursday lunch box, I suddenly noticed it’s a message. It says ‘Creative activities need daily routines as rituals.’
‘Oh! I know. That book I bought before.’ I went to my book shelf to pik it up.
The other day I happened to find a book my client edited at a book store and then I bought a book next to that book. It’s called ‘Daily Rituals:How Artists Work’ And I was gobsmacked!
The subtitle says ‘Small daily rituals make big creations.’ and Creative person’s daily life is not necessarily creative.’
Definitely, I like to stay at home to create something these days and when I go out, it’s for lessons or someone asks me to go somewhere. Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn’t be such an indoor-person. But it’s true that my creativity has been developing day by day. And more over if this book’s Japanese title, ‘Daily rituals of genius people’ is right, I am a genius too.
By the way, I think the title of the movie ‘Paterson’ has a rhythm to it ‘pattern person’ and an actor who plays a bus driver is Adam Driver! I have goose bumps! This movie is perfect to the end!
Repeating the same action isn’t boring.
Small differences become easier to see.
Often small things can be big signs.
