★Where the magic happens!

It took a maverick CEO in an Aloha shirt to jolt me out of my comfort zone! Let’s figure out what will jolt you!

Last newsletter I wrote about having a job interview at a place where there was a leopard print fur jacket. Please read it! ★here

“We hope all of your dreams come true at our company. When all is said and done, we don’t mind if you will set up your own business.” I saw it on the job offer page of that apparel company. I was excited and nervous at the same time.

In my mind, there would be a man wearing a suit but there was a man and a woman wearing aloha shirts. I was gobsmacked! Actually I was worried and I asked, “I came here because I want be a manager, so is this the right place?” And the man said, “It is a free and open interview.”

And yet I was gobsmacked again! I was beginning to understand that the man was the CEO! I wondered if it was OK? There was a huge difference between the company where I was working at that time and here.

But the magic happened! I became a shop manager just two months after I started to work there even though I hadn’t worked at an apparel company. I had received a raise of 100,000 yen per month even though I hadn’t experienced being a shop manager. But the CEO said frankly, “You said that you wanted to be a manager during the job interview, right?” It was true!

Looking back now, it was the first time ever in my life to meet an entrepreneur. As I had met and talked with him directly during the time the company was developing a branding strategy. I was influenced by him and I had developed an entrepreneurial mindset. And I also established my personal brand, to boot.

Although we need self-investment to develop ourselves, I again realized a company invested in me. So I achieved results. It was like a venture school.

Ten years after I had started my own business I suddenly remembered about what the job offer said. I achieved the ultimate plan. My heart flowed with gratitude.
