If you say you can’t, you won’t, and the universe will ignore you.
今月の質問は「どんな人に憧れますか？」でした。よくよく考えてみると、自分がどうなりたいかをイメージする前に、憧れの人に出逢うことが必要です。私は出逢ったあとに「ああ、私こういう感じになりたいんだ」と気づきます。もしそう感じるということは、あなたの中にも、そういう才能があるからです。
I asked “Who do you look up to?” for this month’s monthly questions. But on second thoughts, before you can imagine what you want to be, you need to meet someone you admire. For me, after I meet someone, I notice I want to be like them. If you feel so, you have the same talent which they have.
私のターニングポイントは、初めてのアルバイトの面接のときでした。ファミリーレストランのキッチンのほうを希望して面接へ行ったのですが、面接担当の人に「ウエイトレスのほうが向いている」と言われ、めちゃくちゃびっくりしました。しかし、そんなにどちらがいいかとか執着していなかったので、言うとおりにすることにしました。1時間前に思っていたことを、すぐさま覆した自分を笑えましたが！
A turning point in my life was when I went to a part-time job interview for the first time. I wanted to work in the kitchen but the job interviewer said, “You should work as a waitress.” I was gobsmacked but I didn’t really care about it so I accepted his idea. And I laughed at myself because I changed my mind immediately.
そして、自分のなりたい人に出逢ってしまったのです。彼女はすごく自然体で、お客様ともすぐに仲良くなってしまう人でした。私は彼女に感化されて、自分の性格が真逆になっていきました。でもこちらのほうが、本来の自分という感じがしていました。
And I met someone I wanted to be like. She was herself and made friends with customers quickly. She inspired me and then my character was turned upside down. But I felt this is the real me!
こういう体験は、私の人生に何度も起こりました。オシャレが苦手だったのに、ファッションブロガーになったこと。話を聞くことが苦手だったのに、コーチになったこと。イラストをとくに描いたことがなかったのに、イラストレーターになったこと。
These experiences have happened to me many times in my life. I wasn’t stylish but I became a fashion blogger. I wasn’t a good listener but I became a life coach. I had never drawn illustrations but I became a illustrator. ;-)
人と分かち合う才能に気づかないときは、人と自分に違いがあることを知ることです。違いに気づくことが、自分を成長させるのです。気づくには、宇宙に耳を傾けてみることです。宇宙は理由があって、運命のめぐり合いをさせるのですから。あなたはそれに気づくだけ。宇宙はいつでもあなたに話しかけているのです。
One dosen’t notice in a person the talents one shares with a person, one notice the differences. To notice the differences is to improve oneself. To notice is to listen to the universe. The universe throws people together for a reason. You just notice that. The universe is talking to you all the time.
