何か欲しいものはありますか？ 形は？ 色は？ 大きさは？ もしこれらの質問に答えたら、宇宙が運んできてくれるかもしれません！
Is there anything you want? What shape is it? What color is it? How large is it? If you answer these questions, the universe would bring it to you.
昨年の11月から華道を始めました。まず剣山と鋏を買い、花器はゆっくり探すことに。うちの観葉植物の鉢がダークグレーなので、鉢と合う花器を探していました。妹や母と一緒に探したり、ネットでも探しましたが、なかなか見つかりません。そこでとりあえず、花器みたいな食器を買いました。
I started learning Ikebana last November. First I bought Kenzan sticks and scissors. About a vase, I took my time making a decision. My flower pots in my room are dark gray so I wanted my vase to match the color of my pots. I searched for one on the internet and I went shopping with my younger sister and mother. But I couldn’t find one. So I bought a platter like a vase.
ある日、その花器を棚に置こうとしたら下に落としてしまい、少し欠けてしまいました。そろそろ新しいものが見つかるサインでしょうか。The universe was talking to me!です。
One day, when I was about to put the platter on the cupboard, it fell off and it had a chip in the edge. So I thought I should find a new vase soon. The universe was talking to me!
翌週、新しい生徒さんが華道を習うと師匠から聞いていました。その方は、私が12歳のころからTVに出られていた方ですので、知っていました。つまり、その道30年以上の方！ とてもびっくりしました。
The next week, I heard that a new student would come to learn Ikebana from my master. I know the student because she has appeared on TV shows since I was 12 years old. In short, she has been an expert in that field for over 30 years! I was gobsmacked.
そして当日、その方と一緒に華道のお稽古となりました。お互いに挨拶をして、道具を出して、いける準備をしていたとき、その方が「私、間違って同じ花器を2つ注文してしまったんですよね」と言いながら、大きな袋から2つの花器を出しました。それを見た私は咄嗟に、「私、買います！」と言いました。
And on that day, I had my Ikebana lesson with her. We said hello to each other and prepared Ikebana things and she said, “I accidentally bought two vases.” Then she took them out of her gigantic bag. I saw them and said on the spur of the moment, “I’ll buy one.”
師匠も、「あら、探してらしたなら、ちょうどよかったわね！」と。まさにその花器は、私が探していた色でした。ただ思っていたよりも大きかったのですが、たくさんのお花がいけられるものでした。そう、それを頂いたとき、こういうのが欲しかったんだと気づいたのです。
My master said, “You have been looking for are! Good timing!” That was exactly the color I was looking for. But I had never imagined the shape. It was bigger than I thought so many flowers can be arranged in the vase. So when I got it, I noticed what I wanted.
この話を英会話の先生にすると、”双子の花器を見つけたね、その人に会うまで、ずいぶん長い道のりだったけれど！」と言いました。こんなことになるなんて！ 12歳の私に教えてあげたいです。
I told my English teacher about that and he said “ You found your vase twin. It has been a long road to finally meeting her.” I never thought it would come to this.” I want to tell my 12 year old self.
探していた物が見つかること。一方で、想像はしたことはなかったけれど、欲しいものに出逢ってしまった！ということもあります。後者のケースのほうが、もっと驚きがありますね。ときにモノのほうが、あなたを見つけるということもあるのです！
Sometimes I know what I’m looking for and I can find that, and on the other hand I came across something I want but couldn’t imagine. I think the latter case is more surprising. Sometimes things find you!
