スキルは教えることができても、その先のレベルは、教えることができません。それは、自分自身で見つけるべきものなのです。言葉にならない領域ですから。
Beyond learning skills there is a next level that cannot be taught to you. It must be discovered yourself. Intangible-ability!
英会話の先生から「MasterClass」を教えてらい、こう言われました。「君のマスタークラスを作るべきだよ。来年の挑戦だね」と。「MasterClass」とは、世界トップクラスの講師陣を揃えた米国のレクチャーサイトです。生徒は、たくさんの分野の匠の講義を視聴することができます。会費2万円で、全ての講義にアクセスが可能です。
My English teacher told me about “MasterClass” and said, “You should make your master class! That’s next year’s challenge!” MasterClass is an American online education platform. Students can access lectures by experts in various fields. If you pay 20,000 yen you can access everyone.
例えば、クリスティーナ・アギレラから、歌唱について学んだり、デビッド・リンチから、クリエイティブと映画製作について学んだり、Vogueの編集長である、アナ・ウインターからは、リーダーシップについて学べるのです！ なんてクラスなんでしょう！ すべて英語で、私は理解するのには時間がかかりますが、マスタークラスの空気を味わいたくて、自分のクリスマスプレゼントにしました。
For example, David Lynch teaches us about creativity and film making, Anna Wintour teaches us Leadership skills, Bobby Brown teaches us makeup and Christina Aguilera teaches us singing. What a class! It’s difficult for me to understand in English smoothly but I want to feel the atmosphere of a Masterclass. So I signed up as my Christmas gift!
最近、私の傾聴トレーニングのレクチャーで、教えられないことがあることに気づきました。スキルとして教えられる部分の限界を感じたのです。言葉にできない領域のようで、スキルを超えた部分があるということです。
Recently I noticed there is a limit to what I can teach about my coaching skills. In other words, what the student must learn is not limited to skills. There is something intangible, beyond those skills.
そして、生徒さんに質問をされました。「何でそういうフィードバックができるのですか」と。私は答えました。「私は元々究極にポジティブなんですよ。そういう人たちに触れていくと分かってくると思いますよ」と。
And then my student asked me, “How can you give feedback like that?” I answered, “I’m a naturally super positive person. If you meet people like that, you will feel and begin to understand how they do it.”
傾聴レッスンのあと、生徒さんがメールしてきました。彼女は、物事の本質まで捉えているようでしたので、驚きました。私が教えていないのに、気づいていたのです。
And then the student emailed me. I was surprised she caught the ability to perceive the true nature of things. I didn’t teach it but she noticed it.
「自分を認めて、自分らしくいることを、自分で許可することがはじまりなのです」と書かれていました。 まさしく、傾聴する側の在り方のことです。生徒さんは、自分で探求していくことが始まったのです。
She wrote like this, “Life begins when we admit ourselves and allow us to be as we are.” I think that that’s exactly how a life coach should be. The student begins searching for herself.
つまり、一定のレベルまで辿り着くことは簡単ですが、それ以降はだんだんと難しくなっていくのです。もし、あなたが次のレベルまで行きたければ、自分で考えなくてはいけません。なぜなら誰も教えてくれないからです。
After all, reaching a certain level is easy, but after that things become gradually more difficult. If you want to reach the next revel you should think for yourself because nobody can teach you.
ついに私はそのレベルに辿り着いていた、ということを認識しました。だから宇宙が「マスタークラス」について、私に知らせてくれたのでしょう。
Finally, I recognized I reached that level. So the universe was talking to me about “MasterClass.”
