どんなに偉大な指揮者であっても、音楽家が最高の状態で演奏しなければ、素晴らしい音楽は奏でられない。指揮者の満足感は、彼/彼女が彼らの可能性を最大限に引き出すことができたときに得られるのだ。
No matter how great a conductor is, great music cannot be played unless the musicians perform at their best. A conductor’s satisfaction comes when he / she inspires to reach their full potential.
「ひとみさん、ここどうぞ」。私は学校の集合写真の校長先生のような位置に座ることになった。
“Hitomi, sit here,” I was sat in a position like the principal in a school photo.
私はマンダリンオリエンタルホテル東京にいた。クライアントさんが宿泊することになったので、ちょっと覗きに行かせていただこうと思っただけだったが、クライアントさんのクライアントさんが、18名も集まっていた！ それで集合写真を撮るというので、彼女の10年来のコーチである私は校長先生の座る席のようなところに通されたのだ。
I was at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Tokyo. I just thought I'd pop in for a quick visit because my client was going to stay there. There were 18 of the client's clients there! She was about to take a group photo. I was her coach for a decade, so I was escorted to a seat that looked like the principal's seat.
その1か月前のセッションで、「5つ星のホテルでお茶会を開けば、たくさんの人が行きたがるでしょう」と私は彼女に提案した。そうして、オンライン以外のリアルで会うことを苦手としていた彼女の背中を押したのだ。思ったとおり、たくさんの人が集まった！ ブレイクスルーした瞬間に立ち会えてよかった。
At a session a month ago, I suggested to her that if she had a tea party at a five-star hotel, a lot of people would want to go so it would be easy to invite people. And so I helped her to overcome her fear of face-to-face meetings. Just as I thought, there were a lot of people there! I'm glad I was there at a breakthrough moment.
クライアントさんの会なので、私は端のほうにいると、話しかけてくれた人がいた。たまたま共通の知人がいたのだ。その知人は、私の初めてのセミナーを後押ししてくれたコーチだ。「やってみたら？」と声をかけてくれたことで、私はブレイクスルーすることができた。私も集合写真を撮ったなあ。自分が提案した場所で、過去の自分に出会い、そして今の自分に出会った。巡り巡る。
It was the client's tea party so I was at the end of the room and someone was talking to me. We happened to have a common acquaintance. That acquaintance was a coach who had helped me organize my first seminar. He said, "Why don't you try it?" So I was able to breakthrough. Well, I remember taking a photo at my first seminar. I felt like I had met my past self and then my present self in a place I suggested. Full circle.
起業してからは、クライアントにブレイクスルーの機会をたくさん与えてきた。何となく、自分が大きく変わって立派な人間にならないといけないような気がするときがあるが、クライアントさんたちが、新しい自分に出会うお手伝いができれば、私の仕事はそれでいいのだ。最近は、オンラインコミュニティーにて、自分の体験談を人にシェアする場を作って、精神的にブレイクスルーした人がいた。
Since I started my own business, I've given my clients a lot of opportunities to make breakthroughs. Somehow I feel like I needed to change a lot and become a great person, but my job is fine with me as long as I can help my clients meet their new selves. Recently, I created a space for my clients to share the stories of their failures with other people, and one of them went through a mental breakthrough at the 1D1U online community.
3年前もクライアントさんからメンタースピーチを頼まれて、そんな体験をしたことを思い出したところ、ハロウィン満月の日に、Julianからポルトガルの写真が送られてきた。それにしてもコロナ禍なのに、なぜ彼はそんなところに？ 彼はコロナウイルスのいない世界に住んでいるようだ。(笑)
Three years ago, a client asked me to give a mentor speech, and I thought I'd had such an experience before and then Julian sent me a picture of Portugal on the day of the Halloween full moon. Why he is there during the Covid-19 pandemic? He seems to live in a world where there is no corona virus. (laughs)
他人に貢献できるということは、自分が満たされているということなのだ。
Being able to contribute to others means that I am fulfilled.

なんだか、これをメッセージと受け止めまして、急に本でも書いてみようかなと思いました。私のコーチに相談すると、「小説を書いたら？」とアドバイスをいただきました。
そこで思ったのが、『かないずむ』のリメイクです。２０２０年の私の視点も入れるのです。きっとこのメルマガが、最初のページになると思います。結末から書いて、１５年前に戻っていくという感じです。映画『TENET』か? (笑) 続きはブログ記事へ。
