To be a puppet or to be a master puppet. This is not a question.
姪が幼児のころ、私は子供と遊ぶのに慣れてない自分を発見しました。心の中で仕事のことを考えながら、姪と一緒に遊んでいたのです。子供の遊び道具は、化粧品のボトルが、オレンジジュースなったり、ネックレスがパスタになったりするので、その想像力についていけていないと感じていました。
When my niece was a young child, I found myself unused to playing with children. In the back of my mind, I was always thinking about work and playing with her at the same time. My imagination was not able to keep up with her playthings, like cosmetic bottles being orange juice or necklaces being pasta.
今ここに生きていないし、想像力も遊びの創造力もないなんて！ 遊ぶときには、仕事のことを考えないこと。ただ感じて、ノリで決めちゃうこと。そうやって、子供たちに同調しながらやっていったら、私の周波数がいつのまにか子供と同じになった気がしました。
How strange that I never lived in the present and never had the imagination and the creativity to play! I decided that when I played. 遊ぶときは、左脳をOFFにして、その場の思い付きで遊びを創造しています。もしかしたら、宇宙から受信しているのかもと思うくらい。最近は、パペットを２対同時に扱う私について姪が、「ひとみちゃん、さっきスイッチ入っていたね」と言いました。パペットを持つだけで、声色が変わり、セリフが勝手にでてきちゃうんですよね。甥がツボにはまったようで、ゲラゲラ笑っていました。
When I play with my nieces and nephew, I turn off the left side of my brain and create a game on an improvised basis. Maybe I am receiving ideas from the universe. Recently, my niece said about me handling two pairs of puppets at the same time, "Hitomi-chan, you were switched on just now.“ When I hold the puppets, my voice changes, and the lines come out by themselves. It really hit my nephew’s spot and he felt about laughing.
クライアントさんが、「子供と能動的に遊んでみよう」とGWに実験してみたそうです。そうしたら、過去の私のように「休みだから、片付いていない仕事をやらなくちゃ」と考えたり、いつも気を張っている自分に気づいたそうです。オセロをやっているときも、「負けてあげるには、どうやったらいいかな」と考えていたそうです。
My client experimented with playing with her daughter more actively during the Golden week holiday. Then, like me in the past, she found herself thinking, "It's my day off, so I have to catch up with my work I haven't done yet." and be always being on edge. Even when she was playing Othello, she was thinking, "How can I lose to her."
「娘と能動的に遊んでみよう」と急にクライアントさんが思ったということは、宇宙劇場からの招待状が届いたサインです。宇宙が操るマスターパペットになれるでしょうか！
The sudden thought of the client, "I'm going to play actively with my daughter", is a sign that she has received an invitation from the theater that is the Universe. She could become a master puppet in the Universe!

■編集後記
最後のセンテンスを添削しているとき英会話の先生が、「パペットマスターなのか？ マスターパペットなのか、どっちなんだ？」と私に聞いてきました。日本人としてはその感覚がよくわからなかったのですが、非常に細かい指摘だなと思い、お腹抱えて笑いました。よくよく考えてみたら、宇宙が操るほうで、演じるほうはこちらです。ですから、マスターパペットとなりました。
そして、そのやりとりがそのまま冒頭の「シェークスピア」になったのです。(笑)
