Breaking out of your comfort zone

Dear Readers,
A great man once said, “If you want something you’ve never had,
you have to do something you’ve never done.”

When I enter luxury brand shops,
I feel uncomfortable because it is too expensive and cool for me to wear.
But I think that feeling is necessary to grow as a person in life.

In my twenties I went to an apparel company to have a job interview.
I had felt like I didn’t belong there for the first time ever in my life.

I used to work for a store that had the largest market share in the food industry
so I had confidence about management
but the apparel shop was like Barneys or Collet in Paris so it was out of my area.
There were many sparkling dresses like a leopard print fur jacket in the dim luxury room.

I felt very uneasy but actually I moved on
and I thought I would give it a try even if I might fail.
It was a group interview and I could’t find any people who had had the same carrier as me.
So I wasn’t swayed by those around me and I could focus on what I should say.

The next day, the HR department called me and said, “Our CEO says he’d like to work with you.”
I was gobsmacked and said, “Are you sure you're okay with me?”

Research suggests that some stress can actually be beneficial to performance.
What would I have done if there wasn’t a leopard print fur jacket...

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone and this is where the magic happens.
