Dear Readers,
Strangely enough, when I ask “What do you imagine you could be in the future?” to my clients, there are many clients who can’t answer it. However when I ask “What can’t you imagine being?” They can answer it.
Suddenly a client fell into an actual drain in the street in the dark and he finally realized he had to change something. And then he started to look for a new job. I asked him questions to make him think from a different perspective in order to get out of his comfort zone. I guided him toward an unexpected future.
Me: What can’t you imagine being in the future?
Client: I can’t imagine working in a cool office like in the American TV series “SUITS”. I can’t imagine working in the arts or the cultural sector. I can’t imagine working in a shop. I should look for a job where I will have to develop new skills rather than those that I already have. If I work in a totally different area, I will meet new people I haven’t met before. That''s exactly why I will make use of my originality in a different field.
He answered various opinions. Although he hadn’t been able to imagine his future, he could imagine something at that time. That was interesting.
At first I suggested he buy the magazine “President” that capable workers might buy. And then he bought the latest issue that was about job interviews. A special feature of the next issue was about retirement funds. So it was good timing. And also he saw something on TV and the next day he came across it in real life. He has been able to find something that he imagined before.
Imagining the future is creating the future. Possibilities are endless. Once you get out of your comfort zone, you have to, whether you can or not.
