Dear Readers,
A great singer once said, “That a hero lies in you.”
“I will turn 40 next month so I’d like to think about how to spend time in my forties.”
“What is the difference between what you imagined being 40 would be like before and how you feel about being 40 years old now? “
“I have my junior colleagues at work but I don’t have enough knowledge or experience to teach them.”
“You feel like you are more unreliable than you had thought.”
“I definitely feel like that.”
“You will have 40 more years in your life. There are many people who start learning something in their forties. An elderly super-volunteer who became famous this year stared to climb mountains when he was 40 years old.
An old woman I met in Switzerland also started climbing mountains when she was 46 years old. To my surprise, she climbed Mt. Tsurugidake when she was 70 years old! I focus on energetic people
and I think about what I should do to be more like them. From 80 years old, 40 years old is like a young girl.”
“Wow. There are some people who start something from 40 years old.”
“Exactly. We can start whenever we want. Now I’m fitter than I was when I was 30. The spirit and humanity of people grow by having various experiences.”
“I see. To keep learning new things is important. I thought I hadn’t done anything but when I think about starting to learn something now, I feel so much better.”
The thing that I found interesting is that the client who raises kids and works in the office spends time with young people everyday. On the other hand, I usually go out in the afternoon to do something so I am surrounded by old folks. They have the privilege of free admission, and free to use of public transport. They are energetic but I’m usually the youngest. And then I think about the way of spending ages and what I should do from now on. I think about the future naturally.
I’m already 40 years old or I’m only 40 years old? Focus on possibilities!
